Walking the Path Alone and Together: A Men’s Support Group
March 8, 2023 @ 7:00 pm
donations welcomePlease join us on the first and third Wednesday of every month beginning March 8 where men from all walks of life are welcome to gather at the DIY and share their life experience in a safe, supportive and judgment-free setting.
The group organizer, and your host, David (Dave) Eisenhardt, is neither a counselor nor a therapist, but a Flemington resident who believes strongly in the value of a community for men. His own life experiences include marriage, divorce and re-marriage, raising children, the 9/11 terrorist attack, navigating the pandemic, etc.
The structure of the meeting will include a brief opening remark from the organizer and then we will go around the circle and invite attendees to share (for 3 or 4 minutes) what is on their mind while others listen in a supportive way without counseling or offering advice during the meeting. Attendees are welcome to also simply attend and listen.
Each meeting will run two hours and attendees are asked to sign up in advance, so that we know how many chairs we need and that we don’t exceed occupancy limits of the space. While the meeting is free to attend, we will pass a hat for those who may wish to make a donation to the DIY space.
The gathering is founded on inclusivity and welcomes all participants. Our core values insist on respect for the individual based on each person’s inherent dignity and value regardless of differences of race, creed, color, religion, age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, marital status, national origin, political opinions or affiliations, socio-economic circumstance, or veteran status.
Some potential topics our group might discuss include:
- Career / Purpose: Confusion around purpose, best career moves, goals & dreams, unsure of personal strengths, conflict at work.
- Managing emotions & mindset: Mental health challenges, anger, depression, anxiety, and how to develop a healthier mindset.
- Health: Aging, how to get stronger, best nutrition, best exercise programs, getting better sleep, finding healthy hobbies, chronic illness, meditation, and mental health.
- Personal Development / Personal Growth Tips: Best times to wake up, useful apps, goal setting, envisioning the future, best tech/apps for a particular goal.
- Addictions: Porn, alcohol, food (sugar, carbs, binge eating, etc.), marijuana, harder drugs, sex and working too much.
- Personal finance: Investing, cash management, getting out of debt, savings, bankruptcy, and cryptocurrencies.
Water and Coffee will be available.
