Meet Roberto Cardaci, chef, owner, and local legend of Flemington Coffee Shop! Roberto jumped at the opportunity to have his newest business on Reaville Ave – next to Staples. Upon entering, you’ll see a familiar look to the style of the diner – the business before was here on Reaville Ave for decades – chef Roberto took it over, kept its name, and is now serving patrons that once grew up here, and are now dining with their grandchildren in the same spot. “I kept the name Flemington Coffee Shop name, because it was great business, and has good history, and this store history and my history combined are a win-win. The Italian bakery – Joe and Rose – for forty years, and now they’re my neighbors,” says Roberto. Open seven days a week, the shop serves up a traditional American breakfast – think omelets, home fries and coffee. The restaurant transforms into an Italian BYOB come nighttime, focusing on family recipes chef Roberto learned decades ago. “I got my inspiration from my childhood friend’s father, I loved watching him cook. I learned his recipes and most importantly, his methods, and love offering up these dishes to my customers.” Chef Roberto has opened restaurants in Flemington before, he is a well-known name in the community. “Mostly all my businesses were in Flemington – I used to own a business, Roberto’s thirty years ago, near the movie theater, then I had Roberto’s Broad Street Grill for ten years, and then I moved to Main Street to open Buddy’s Grab N’ Go. I sold that business about ten years ago, and when I saw this spot open on Reaville – I jumped at the chance to take it,” says Roberto. Patrons of Flemington Coffee Shop can start in the morning with a delicious breakfast and come back during the evenings that their open for their Italian specialties.
