Meet Rose and Joe Mannino owners of the Italian Bakery and Espresso Bar. The bakery opened its doors on September 5, 1985. Over time, ownership passed from family member to family member, and their product line increased with each transition. They have expanded their selection of pastries, danishes, cookies, and cakes and their cappuccino and espresso are divine.
Founder Jack Mannino, was a baker by trade in Sicily. When he came to America in 1967 he worked as a baker for six months before opening his first pizzeria in Brooklyn where he was very successful — but baking was his true love.. When his father passed away in July 1985, he opened the bakery and 35 years later his family recipes have stood the test of time. Everything at the bakery is made from scratch. His children continue the legacy today, “We still use all his recipes, we still bake the same way he did – authentic.” Some of their most popular items are their cannoli, pignoli, and cappuccino.
Over the years the bakery has built a loyal following, owner Rose Mannino told us “we are grateful for the loyalty and friendships we have built with our customers.. Many of our customers have become very close friends. Some have been coming to our store since we opened 35 years ago. It a small, yet united community. We are like one big family. ”
